Did you know...?
There was an actual Revolutionary War Battle at Shallow Ford. (Even though the actual battle has no crucial relation to the show, it does provide some interesting historical background)

On a quiet Sunday evening back in October of 1938, the regulars are gathered, as they usually do, at the Burton Mock's general store in Shallowford, North Carolina. While the rest of the world is on the brink of war, these folks are only interested in the local gossip. And Burton Mock's general store is the place to hear all of it. Everything is calm until they turn on the radio and learn that the Martians have invaded! They fall hook, line and sinker for the Orson Wells broadcast and run out to do battle. This show is sure to tickle your funny bone!
